@melodicake do your computers have card readers? it's probably possible to install linux on an SD/microsd card and boot from that card to give it a test drive on your laptop without losing anything

I had a netbook that I booted into linux mint off a USB stick for months because I didn't wanna touch windows xp

@proto that is such a good idea, i never thought of that! i just checked and yeah the old laptop has an sd card reader, i can definitely get an sd card (or usb drive?) and install lubuntu or smth on it to test and see if it works. one question though, if i boot from an sd card or a usb drive does it access the hard drive?
