Love these breweries who apparently can't make a decent lager so they just write three paragraphs about their unique blend of hops on the side of the can.

If they'd at least put the IBU number on the front of the box I would have known to avoid this fucking swill :yeet:

@proto i really hate the 'tropic, and citrus' trend right now
@alphakamp @proto looks better than some of the beer i've had recently. tropic citrus trend sounds tasty rn
@tsu @proto bitter for me, im gonna go grab some 100% cocoa rn
@alphakamp @proto i hear ya, i wouldn't pass that up. i don't think i've had any cocoa brewed beers before, but i'd love to try it

@tsu @alphakamp I've loved some chocolate stouts. Most of those are pre-christmas seasonal though, it seems

@proto @tsu breweries around me are putting spicy things in stouts, including habenero. do not like

@alphakamp @tsu I bought a few cider samplers with habanero variants in them. Hated it at the outset, kinda grew fond of it. Still wouldn't buy it on its own, and habanero beer sounds terrible

@proto @alphakamp i'd be curious to try habanero in beer or cider. not sure if it'd be my thing. like stouts, and flavor heavy things, are great to have a couple glasses of with certain meals. contrasting or balancing the flavors
@tsu @proto to be fair, the flavor does blend well if not to over powering which the ones i tried were not. However I would prefer a plain ole guiness anyday
@alphakamp @proto guiness can be a good time. i don't drink it much. had it on st. patricks day once with red wine, it's called a /red velvet/, two glasses floored me lol
@alphakamp habenero isn't bad in an IPA or DIPA if it's done right but just thinking of it in a stout is kind of gross. @proto @tsu
@dude @proto @tsu my gut is not particularly fond of habenero in general. Id prefer to avoid
@alphakamp heh, I grew a small crop of ghost peepers this year 0.0 @proto @tsu
@dude when i was younger maybe, now it would be pain twice
@dude @alphakamp @proto ooo, nice! i'd love to get me some of those to make a chilly or jamabalaya
@dude @alphakamp @proto i've had deserts with spicy peppers before, when i did the foodie thing. and it can be used quite well with icecreame or gelato. so if it's done right, maybe it would be good
@tsu agreed. Breweries go overboard with a lot of their recipes eg most of the breweries here in Maryland make something with Old Bay in it and it's all pretty foul. @alphakamp @proto
@proto sooner or later someone has to get it right. I put Old Bay on just about everything (it's great on popcorn for mac & cheese) but I've yet to find a beer it's good in
@dude @tsu @proto ah flying dog, def of the 'we have made enough good beers we can get away with experiments' category
@dude @alphakamp @proto i've had some flyingdog stuff, it can be good. it's up there with 3 Floyds and a few others. i always forget the names. usually its fun to just get something you haven't had, and try a bunch of different things slowly. there's only a few things i know i don't like at this point that way
@tsu I haven't been drinking much lately but for July 4th I put together a flight of like 7 Trapist (not Trappist style) Ales. Tripels are one of my favorites though I like most big beers @alphakamp @proto
@dude @alphakamp @proto i am not sure of the difference between trapist and trappist, and don't recall if i've had either. i've gotten into a couple beer fests for free before, and gotten to try a bunch of stuff

what's the difference there?
@tsu as for the difference between trappist and trappist style, a lot of it is marketing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trappist_beer @alphakamp @proto
@dude @alphakamp @proto i see, i misunderstood. i've heard a lot of talk about trappist beers, but i don't think i've had any
@tsu if you can get your hands on them they're really something special. I'm lucky to have a pretty good bottle shop nearby @alphakamp @proto
@dude @alphakamp @proto i can't afford myself much these days anyway, but hopefully someday
@alphakamp yeah, it's funny because I lived in Denver when they were based there then here I am with them in my backyard again. @tsu @proto
